The Story

This is part of the collective art experience on sexual wellness commissioned by Spark and Smile Maker. I am very happy to help the story of Sexual Wellness surface in Singapore, with humour and delicacy and hopefully with depth. “And to tell the whole story if possible”.

Like The Little Prince asking Antoine de Saint Exupéry to draw him a sheep, I am asking people in Singapore to share and draw about their vision of Sexuality. They draw and talk about sexuality, alone, with someone, with many ones, reproduction, before marriage, after marriage, same gender, opposite gender. They share their stories about Love and Connection, about feelings of Expansion, Pleasure and Nurturing. They share their stories about being scared sometimes, about social pressure. I feel very privileged to support people in their journey towards self reflection.

Extract from 3 participants

AL: “If Sex was a fruit…”

Participant: “Rambutan.! It is freaky on the outside and you think '"yeaaah what is this" and you do not know what is in the inside because it looks so weird... if you are lucky… it is good in the inside”

AL: “An epic moment when you were feeling sexual”

Participant: “I met this guy and we had such an amazing connection on soul level… we basically had sex in every room of the house. I think the neighbours knew but were too polite to say anything. (Big smile) It was awesome. After I met this guy I so appreciate men being open about their emotions. With him being so open, I was thinking “F*ck, this is beautiful”(She starts drawing)…Mmmmm should we go bigger? Mmm no, that is fine. I do not care. As soon as…(she stops and starts thinking) you said that... I think it is more compassionate, (she starts crying silently, smile) ... (long silence). I am ok. I do not know why I am crying. How do I draw compassionate?”

AL: “Draw me a male sex”

Participant: “Passion, together we achieve something like a trophy, yet together. I want to give the most out of me so I draw a heart. I want to draw a planet, going beyond the universe. With Sex, you lose sense of time,  as you go out of your own dimension, the spaceship represents going and exploring new boundaries. Not sure how a spaceship looks like...and you explore together.”

This art experience will become a collective art exhibition at Spark fest and a book later on.
